5 steps to take an Accredited EMDR Training
An EMDRIA Approved Training equips trainees with the knowledge and skills to use EMDR Therapy providing at least 50 hours of content through lectures practicum and consultation. A trainee receives education about EMDR theory and model learns to apply this information to client cases and is required to use and consult about their use of EMDR therapy during the training to integrate EMDR into clinical practice.
Step 1 - Check you are Eligible to train in EMDR.
EMDR is an advanced psychotherapy requiring a high level of skill. A mental health clinical background is an essential prerequisite for the effective application of EMDR treatment. All training providers must adhere to the same eligibility criteria listed below, as set out by EMDR Europe. You will need to provide evidence that you are accredited with one of the professional associations deemed acceptable by EMDR Europe.
Step 2 - Find a trainer.
EMDR Europe approved training providers arrange their dates, locations, formats, and payments for the training they teach.

Step 3 - Prepare for your training.

Step 4 - Complete your EMDR Training
The EMDR training completion certificate will indicate the completion of a minimum of 50 training hours. Note: The training completion certificate may not be the same as any CE certificate(s) you receive. Once you receive your EMDR training completion certificate, you are considered an EMDR trained clinician capable of using EMDR therapy in your practice.
Step 5 - Register for Supervision
Supervision is a key piece in developing your skills as an EMDR therapist. It consists of case discussions with a trained supervisor in a small group where you will analyse your case load, discuss complex cases, and build your skills.
